Student Attendance

Remember to email gsattendance@portlandct.us if your child will be absent and include your child's first and last name, the reason why your child is out, your child's teacher, and the date or dates they will be absent.

Welcome to Gildersleeve Elementary School! At Gildersleeve, we are proud to be a caring learning community where students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated staff works each day to create engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

We are honored to have been named a Connecticut Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, a recognition that reflects the hard work and commitment of our students, staff, and families.

At Gildersleeve, we strive to “Show the Way to BEE.” We encourage our students to be respectful, responsible, and kind members of our school community while always doing their best.

Strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success, and we are grateful to work alongside our families in supporting every child’s growth. I am so proud to serve as principal of such a special school community.
